Enjoy a thrilling high-country ride with San Juan Scenic Jeep Tours in Ouray, Colorado. Kerri's coworker from Telluride runs facilitates these tours; Luke and Alison went on this last fall with Uncle Mitch and Aunt Pam before Hunter's wedding, and they loved it! The mining history was super cool and the mountain views were amazing.
Luke and Alison haven't tried this one yet... Luke went and bought a climbing harness in downtown Ouray thinking they were going on the Via Ferrata, but Alison ended up dragging him rock climbing instead (typical). You can scale the course guided or solo, just make sure you have the correct tethers and a proper harness before starting. There are usually people guarding the entrance to make sure you have a ll necessary equipment if you choose to do it without a guide.

Nestled in a dramatic box canyon about an hour from Ridgway, Telluride is a must-see mountain town known for its charming streets, historic architecture, and breathtaking scenery. Guests can stroll through boutiques and cafes, take the free gondola for panoramic views, or hike among alpine waterfalls. In the summer, the town buzzes with live music and festivals, while its relaxed mountain vibe makes it perfect for a laid-back afternoon. In the winter, this is a ski area that Luke and Alison have frequented thanks to Kerri being a ski and snowboard instructor at the resort! They have had some awesome powder days here, including a trip that they took with Hunter and Morgan!
For a quieter, off-the-beaten-path adventure, Lake City offers a peaceful escape surrounded by rugged peaks and wildflower-filled meadows. About 1.5 hours from Ridgway, it's a scenic drive through the San Juans that's worth every turn. Guests can explore local shops, enjoy lakeside picnics, or rent kayaks and paddle across the pristine waters. Alison completed her first 14er here (Handy's) when she was living in Alamosa after COVID. It will be 14er season during the wedding, so we would love if our guests wanted to take on any of the many mountains here! Be careful with altitude; drink lots of water and eat plenty. Luke has never had altitude sickness (he was born at 10,000 ft), but Liv can tell you it's one of the worst things ever (she used to get it all of the time when she would visit Alison in Alamosa).
